On a fine spring day in 1996, after many attempts at tweaking store bought sauces to his liking, and finding most too sweet, typically lacking in spice, and generally boring, I thought to myself, “why not make my own?” The recipe started off a dash-of-this, handful-of-that sort of thing, not even written down for many years. As more and more friends and family said things like “Damn, that’s good!” and “you should bottle that”, actual measurements were noted and tweaked. The result, more than 20 years later, is my Original Recipe BBQ Sauce. I truly hope you enjoy it!
